ARC Raiders is taking a step towards film and television. Nexon has named Chernin Entertainment as lead producer for screen adaptations of both ARC Raiders and THE FINALS, the two games developed by Embark Studios.

Nexon's October 6 announcement sets out a partnership, with Embark's creative teams working alongside Chernin. It leaves the shape of the individual projects open: there is no confirmed release date or announced cast in the material shared so far.

A world with room for more stories

In an October 16 interview with GamesRadar+, ARC Raiders executive producer Aleksander Grøndal described the game's world as a place that could support many different stories. He also said Embark would contribute to the adaptations and help keep them consistent with its vision.

That leaves an interesting creative question: whose life do you follow when the player is no longer choosing the next move? A screen story could stay with a character through the quiet stretches between raids, as well as the danger on the surface. That is a possibility the setting offers, rather than an announced plot.

The visual world is already there

The official game website describes a future Earth threatened by mysterious machines, with remnants of Italy's history set alongside imposing space-travel infrastructure. It is a world where the landscape carries part of the story before anyone speaks.

Look at the game images below: a wooded path opens onto a machine on the horizon, while another frame places a lone figure beneath an enormous hovering shape. To our eye, that contrast between ordinary human scale and overwhelming machinery is one of the setting's strongest visual hooks.

These are images from the games and their promotion. They give a sense of the source worlds, without telling us how Chernin's productions will look.

THE FINALS is part of the deal too

The agreement also covers THE FINALS, Embark's combat game show set in a virtual world. Its arenas and performance-driven premise offer a very different starting point from ARC Raiders' scavengers and machine threat.

Nexon's announcement covers film and television across the two properties. It does not assign a specific format to either game, so it is too early to describe a particular ARC Raiders movie or series as a defined production with a viewing date.

What comes next

The next details to watch for are the creative teams, the format and the stories they choose to tell. For now, the confirmed development is the partnership itself, with Embark involved as its game worlds move towards another medium.
